Toshiba Tries Cell-Phone Voice Translation
I have just come across a story saying that Toshiba is to offer automated Instant Voice Translation on one of its cell phones known as TG01. The cell phones will translate up to 3 languages between English, Chinese and Japanese.
Toshiba says that it is targeting travellers to China, Japan and English speaking countries. The cell-phone has around 30000 key phrases related to travel. The user has to talk into the cell-phone in any of the 3 languages to and let the phone translate and play out the translation in the other chosen language. This sounds like a good idea but let's wait and see if this will deliver in terms of accuracy, reliability and nativity.
